Placement Services
Seabury students generally seek and find employment as ministers and leaders in the Episcopal Church. The church has a number of formal and informal practices: some bishops place their own ordinands and lay leaders within their diocese. At the churchwide level, the Church Deployment Office assists in matching open positions at every level with qualified candidates. The Episcopal Church also has a network of diocesan deployment officers who regularly share information about open positions and available leaders. Seabury assists students by helping them understand and enter these systems, by advising students about particular positions, and by keeping a current listing of positions registered with the Church Deployment Office and posting position openings sent directly to the seminary. Transfer of Credits: Seabury accepts DMin credit in transfer for work done at the doctoral level at other accredited seminaries or institutions of higher education, subject to the degree restrictions on number of credits which can be transferred. For students in the joint DMin in Congregational Development program, courses taken at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific (CDSP) are not considered transfer credits. Students in this program may transfer up to two doctoral-level course credits from an accredited seminary or institution of higher education that is other than Seabury-Western or CDSP.
Transfer Students. Students entering Seabury as transfer students will be subject to the degree requirements of the curriculum. Transfer credits older than ten years will not normally be accepted.
Students who wish to apply transfer credits to fulfill required courses must contact the Academic Dean for the Diploma in Anglican Studies program or the Director of Congregational Development for the Doctor of Ministry in Congregational Development program.
